Claude announced Fable 5.1 Build Days in cities around the world. One Indian city made the list. The timeline had opinions. All of them are saved here.
At 1:27 am on Friday, @claudeai posted a 30-second video. Fable 5.1 Build Days, a worldwide buildathon from September 11 to 25, with the Claude community hosting in cities across every continent. The video scrolls through the host cities. Nairobi. Stockholm. Cape Town. Oslo. Mexico City. Osaka. Miami. Then, in a clay-coloured box: Bhopal.
Bhopal was the only Indian city on the list. No Bengaluru, no Delhi, no Mumbai, no Hyderabad. Within half an hour the quote-posts started, and they did not stop. By 5:37 am X's trending system had bundled the conversation into its own story page, first titled "Claude Fable 5.1 Build Days Launch Worldwide with Bhopal Spotlight" and retitled nine times since, most recently to "Anthropic's Fable 5.1 Buildathons Launch Globally with Bhopal Spotlight in India". That page is where this post comes from.
Update, 2 pm IST: Bengaluru is on the list now, and it got there after Bhopal trended. There was no Bengaluru event when the announcement went out at 1:27 am. The first word of one came at 1:44 pm, twelve hours later, from @knowShubhangi, who is hosting it: a Claude Fable Build Day in Bengaluru on Friday, September 25, followed by a Claude Conversation in Mumbai on the 26th. Bhopal, on the 20th, was first on the list and is first on the calendar.
Update, 10 pm IST: the story is still climbing. X has renamed it nine times since the morning, and at the last refresh it counted 4,825 posts in the trend, with 2.1M views on the announcement. On X's trending page it now sits beside two larger India stories from the same day, Karnataka's partnership with Anthropic on public services and Anthropic's chief executive Dario Amodei meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bhopal's is the smallest of the three and the only one about a city nobody expected on the list.
Update, 1 am IST, September 12: past midnight the count passed 3,300 posts, and X's newest headline calls it India's only Fable 5.1 buildathon again, Bengaluru's own date notwithstanding. Posts were still arriving at about fifty an hour late in the evening. The chapter's next event is the Claude Conversation on Saturday, September 12, at 6 pm, with the Impact Lab on Sunday and the Build Day the Sunday after.
Update, 9 am IST, September 12: by morning the count stood past 3,800 posts and the announcement past 1.4 million views. X rewrote the headline twice more overnight, ten versions in all, the latest circling back almost to the original wording. The flow slowed to about thirty posts an hour after midnight and single digits after 4 am; the trend is winding down. Claude's developer account, @ClaudeDevs, joined at 2:41 am with a quote seen 120,000 times. The Claude Conversation is this evening at 6 pm.
Update, 1 pm IST, September 12: winding down was premature. The posts picked up again late on Saturday morning, forty an hour at ten o'clock, and X's count passed 4,200 with the announcement past 1.6 million views. X is still editing the story: a ninth headline appeared at 12:19 pm, "Anthropic's Fable 5.1 Buildathons Launch Globally with Bhopal Spotlight in India". Most of the new posts come from Madhya Pradesh, from people who had just heard.
Update, Wednesday, September 16: the trend has run its course. Of the posts X shows to readers without an account, 410 arrived on Saturday, 70 on Sunday, 39 on Monday, a dozen on Tuesday and a handful today; X's own count stopped at 4,825, and the announcement sits at 2.1M views. X rewrote the headline nine times in all; the last change, at 3:04 pm on Saturday, is the one it has kept since: "Anthropic's Fable 5.1 Buildathons Launch Globally with Bhopal Spotlight in India". Two more Indian cities got Build Days out of the week: Bengaluru on the 25th and Mumbai on Wednesday the 23rd, announced by its host @TheCoderShow in the small hours of Saturday and live on Luma by that night. In Bhopal, two of the chapter's three events have now happened. The Claude Conversation ran on Saturday evening; people from Razorpay, Cisco, TCS and WordPress were in the room, by the host's account, and one attendee counted more than a thousand registrations for a hundred-odd seats. The Impact Lab moved from Sunday to Tuesday, September 15, sold out, and spent the day building on a real problem statement. The Build Day on Sunday the 20th is the one left, and seats were still open on Luma on Wednesday evening.

The Claude community kicked off Fable 5.1 Build Days this week, running through September 25 in places like Stockholm, Cape Town, Mexico City, and Bhopal on September 20. Fable 5.1 excels at tough coding, agentic tasks, and knowledge work with a 1M-token context and affordable pricing. Bhopal's event offers a full day of challenges, demos, $100 API credits per person, and tracks for fun projects or real-world solutions, hosted by ambassador Aniket Sahu—while a Bangalore event follows on September 25. Reactions mix excitement for prototyping with lighthearted jabs at picking Bhopal over bigger hubs, underscoring the community-driven vibe.
X's summary of the trend, written by Grok. X adds: "This story is a summary of posts on X and may evolve over time. Grok can make mistakes, verify its outputs."
Because the local chapter put an event on the calendar. Build Days are hosted by Claude community chapters in each city, and Bhopal has one: a volunteer-run group, hosted by The Origin Guild, that has held nine free meetups since March, from Claude Code workshops to a full-day Impact Lab in August. When the Fable 5.1 Build Days went up on the global calendar, Bhopal was on it.
Three events were on the chapter's calendar for September. Two have happened. The Build Day, the one the whole timeline was arguing about, is on Sunday.
All three are free and approval-based. The first two filled up; register for the Build Day early on Luma. The venue is shared with confirmed registrants.

X counts 4,825 posts in this trend but shows only some of them to readers without an account: the trend's own timelines, the replies visible under each post, and what a public mirror's search turns up.
